Images are reinstallable from the panel at any time, and IPMI virtual media lets you boot anything we don't stock, including your own hardened build. Reinstalling wipes the disk, so snapshot first. Windows Server and RHEL need a licence: bring your own, or add one to the invoice.

Dedicated servers, explained

What people ask before committing to a dedicated server of their own.

What makes a dedicated server different from a VPS?

There is no hypervisor and no other tenant. On a VPS you rent a slice of a machine; here you rent the machine. Every core, every gigabyte and every drive bay is yours, with no virtualisation overhead and nobody else's workload to contend with. The trade-off is that you can't resize it with a reboot, because changing the hardware means changing the hardware.

How long does provisioning take?

Stock builds ship from racked inventory in about four hours, imaged, networked and handed over with credentials. Custom builds that need parts ordered typically take two to five business days, and we confirm the date in writing before taking payment.

Do I get IPMI or out-of-band access?

Every server includes IPMI with remote KVM, power control and virtual media. You can reinstall the OS, change BIOS settings, watch the machine POST or recover an unbootable system entirely on your own, without opening a ticket.

Can I customise the hardware?

Yes. CPU, memory, drive count and type, RAID level, extra NICs, GPUs and dual-socket boards are all specifiable. The ten stock builds exist because they cover most requests, not because they're the only options. Describe the workload and we'll quote a machine for it.

Are the servers managed?

Unmanaged by default. We own the hardware, network, power and cooling; you own the operating system and everything above it. Managed monitoring, patching and control-panel licences are available as add-ons if you'd rather hand that over.

What happens if hardware fails?

Faulty components are replaced free under a four-hour SLA, around the clock, from spares held on site. Drives fail more than anything else, which is why every stock build ships in RAID, so a single disk failure costs you a rebuild rather than an outage.

Can I run a hypervisor on it?

Yes, and plenty of customers do. Proxmox VE, VMware ESXi, Hyper-V and plain KVM all install cleanly, and the larger builds are sized with that in mind. Running your own virtualisation on one big machine is often cheaper than renting the equivalent in separate instances.

Where are the machines located?

Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, Ashburn, Dallas and Singapore, in ISO 27001 and SOC 2 audited facilities with N+1 power and cooling. Pick the region at order time; moving a physical machine later means a migration, so choose with your users in mind.
